Can a man and a woman be 'just friends'?

The eternal question which has haunted people for centuries--Can a man and a woman be 'just friends'? Watched when 'Harry met Sally'?If so you'll know what i mean when i ask 'Can two friends sleep together and still love each other in the morning?'
What is your take on it? Can a man and a woman have just a platonic relationship?Is it truly possible?Come on, be honest! :)

I would say they can. All relationship, I mean the good ones, are based on friendship...love is an intense derivation of emotions where the source can be traced to many factors..its impossible for 2 people to maintain a state of love for an indefinite period...it normally should fall back to friendship...

can a man and woman be friends without the sex quotient coming in?... i think they can...if theres no attraction and move from either sides...

Yes...definetly--a man and woman can be just friends...sleep together and still love each other in the morning...and still remain the best friends as they share not just a emotional bond but a physical bond as well...why give tags to friendship?Like any relationship..its special and the individuals should have the right to decide the closeness,well friendship just happens and its better to flow in a relationship than hold back....The definition of platonic is man made...

I do agree with your view--but surely after sleeping together, most women will want more--will want some kind of commitment from the man.

No attraction from either sides--possible though rare.I do agree that love cannot last forever.

I believe that no relation can be planned like, 'OK we will have a platonic relationship!' coz Love happens without such strings and you dont have a recipe for it...and thats the beauty of it.

Yes. Don't rem'ber what went on in Harry met Sally but being plain friends is very much possible. Falling in love is well not somethinig that can be controlled. And love too doesn't necessarily mean "sexual". It can be very much platonic.

I guess this whole 'man and woman being friends' depends totally on the way one looks at it. I would say of course they can. If there are more than one guy in your group of friends, i'm sure you cannot love everyone the way you'd love your guy, boyfriend or whatever. But yes, one can and always remain friends with a guy without any kind of sex coming in between.
Sometimes, it is just easier to being friends with the opposite sex...

yes...true...the commitment is there...to be together always..in good and bad..is it necessary to have a social tag or a name...friendship itself is so infinite....what more is left wanted when you have it all...and a woman would not give in to a person blindly(lady sixth sense...dont forget) and then if she expects more...then there definetly a rethink of what you are looking for in a friendship exists....

if they are just friends, it is very much possible to remain friends.

But sleeping together, I guess that's a little difficult. Whatever kind of girl it is the Grey matter in the head and the red matter of the heart, no matter what will always want some thing 'more' :)

and that 'more' would be commitment of course .. what else? :)

Don't know about movies--but somehow the sex thing always creeps up in a friendship between a man and a woman according to me..sooner or later.Platoinic is possible of course.Difficult but possible :)
